Dr. Deidra J. Snell is a native of Port Gibson, MS. She graduated in 2004 from Alcorn State University with two B.S. degrees in Biology and Biochemistry, where she also participated in research programs at Andhra University in India, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, and interned at Grand Gulf Nuclear Station in the Chemistry Department. Dr. Snell then attended University of Mississippi Medical Center – School of Dentistry, in which she voyaged to Mexico on three different occasions for dental mission trips while a student there and since graduation continues participating in mission trips in Central and South Americas, coming to a total of 10 mission trips thus far. She also completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) Program at the University of MS Medical Center. Dr. Snell is currently a board member for the Salt and Light Ministry that has missions trips and a local ministry year round in Honduras. Dr. Snell is also serves on the Mississippi Sickle Cell Foundation Board. Dr. Snell has worked in corporate dentistry, mobile dental units for grade schools and military personal, community health centers, and is currently in private practice as owner of Ridgewood Smiles Dentistry in Jackson, MS while working once weekly in nursing homes around Louisiana. She is currently an offsite faculty member at UMC – School of Dentistry hosting 4 th year dental students at her office for their private practice rotations.
